I’m a photographer based near Leek, Staffordshire, on the edge of the Peak District.

I have a PhD in psychology, specialising in visual perception. I spent my career as a user researcher, observing how people interact with technology and applying those insights to the design of user interfaces. Those same habits of observation, research and experimentation shape the way I approach photography.

Much of my photography takes the form of long-term, self-assigned projects. My work spans landscape, architecture, portraiture and natural history, alongside analogue processes such as pinhole photography and cyanotype. In 2026, I was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society for a panel of architectural cyanotypes.

I volunteer for the Royal Photographic Society, serving on the Landscape Group committee and leading two critique circles. I’m also Chairman of Leek Photographic Club, where I enjoy discussing photography with friends and taking part in competitions, exhibitions, social events and outings.
